According to OutARoad, Shaggy, Shabba Ranks, Richie Stephens and Faye-Ann Lyons are set to perform at the Adidas Jamboree concert at Randall's Island in New York on June 9th! The concert will serve as a 50th anniversary celebration for both Jamaica and Trinidad. It's taking place at the conclusion of the annual Adidas Grand Prix where Caribbean track stars and other world elite athletes will compete.

Shaggy is scheduled to perform at 7.30 PM and you're advised to arrive at the CR&FC early (5 or 6PM would be great) to avoid long queues. The CR&FC gates open at around 4PM.

Before Shaggy released his first album Pure Pleasure, including the massive hit single Oh Carolina, he was already recording music while serving as a Marine. Here's a rare Shaggy song from those years that most of you probably haven't heard - until now!
Shaggy recorded Put Down the Gun at the HC&F and INS studios in New York in 1991 for Signet Records. The song was produced by Sting International on a riddim by The Supreme Team. Check it out below!

April 7 - Jamaica Village canceled
Jamaica Village, which aimed to showcase Jamaica in London during the 2012 Olympics, has been canceled due to funding issues. Shaggy, Cocoa Tea and Beres Hammond were among the many artists expected to perform at the event.
Shaggy and Leo Aberer, who did an impromptu freestyle together at the SeeFestTage 2009 in Austria, recorded a song and video "Football is my life" for the UEFA EURO 2012! Austrian Orf tv's Chili TV visited them on set in New York and reports!

March 7 - More: Prince Harry and Shaggy at the Bustamante Children's Hospital
Yesterday, Prince Harry paid an official visit to the Bustamante Hospital for Children as part of his four-day visit to Jamaica. He spoke with Shaggy about the Shaggy & Friends concerts, which have raised approximately $90 million JMD for the pediatric hospital, and Shaggy says the prince's visit did a great service in bringing a lot of international awareness to the children's hospital. Shaggy and the prince exchanged several light moments, full of laughter, with the children, who were quite excited by the visit.

February 1 - Shaggy honored at Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival
Shaggy and Richie Stephens were honored at the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival for their contribution to Jamaican music! Chairman of Art of Music Productions Walter Elmore presented Stephens with an award to recognize his nearly two decade-long contribution to Jamaican music. Shaggy was honored for promoting Jamaica's culture internationally. The South Florida Caribbean News has a photo of Shaggy, Richie Stephens, Gentleman and Walter Elmore.

January 31 - Shaggy & Friends raise $32 million for Bustamante Children's Hospital
The January 7 installment of the Shaggy & Friends charity concert has raised $32 million JD, which will help to furnish the new ICU/cardiac ward in partnership with Chain Of Hope Jamaica, a group of volunteer doctors and nurses who perform surgeries each year on our children with heart problems. This brings the amount of money raised by the Shaggy & Friends charity concerts to a total of $97 million JD since 2009. Jamaica Observer. Congrats to Shaggy & Friends for making such in impact!
Shaggy announced the results at a press conference at the Bustamante Hospital for Children. Shaggy stated that he was "heartened by the outpouring of support this year by so many Jamaicans" and he pledges "to continue to support this cause and encourage Jamaicans to do so as well!" They talked about among others Shaggy's charity work for the Bustamante Children's Hospital, his music career, Shaggy being a spokesperson for Jamaica's 50th anniversary, Summer in Kingston, how Shaggy's collaborations come about, Just Another Girl, Soldier's Story, End of the World (Drink Up) and Dame!
And there's more... When asked about his upcoming projects, Shaggy told The Roundtable that he's working on a hardcore reggae album with the legendary duo Sly & Robbie! The album will probably be ready in the summer of next year and feature collaborations with Ne-Yo, Joe, John Legend and other artists on Sly & Robbie's heavy reggae riddims!

Last night the Shaggy & Friends charity concert for the Bustamante Children's Hospital was held. A huge number of people, including Jamaica's Prime Minister, came to enjoy the event and support the only pediatric hospital in the West Indies. According to attendees and live viewers, the event and the concert were great!
Shaggy along with Maxi Priest, Eve, Deniece Williams, Mr Vegas, Gyptian, Cocoa Tea, Romain Virgo, Tami Chynn, Wayne Marshall, Half Pint, Agent Sasco, I-Octane and Lauryn Hill as well as surprise guests Beres Hammond, Junior Reid, Stephen Marley, Damian Marley, Tarrus Riley, Tessanne Chin, Rayvon, Future Fambo, Mystic Davis, Tifa, Ms Kitty, Rohan Gunter and more graced the stage and made the evening unforgettable for anyone who attended.
